Crack is cocaine in a form which can be smoked: the highs are shorter and more intense. Crack is a highly addictive, highly expensive drug also known as rock, wash and stone.

What crack does
- Crack is an extremely powerful stimulant: the effects are similar to snorting cocaine but considerably shorter (lasting as little as 10 minutes) and more intense.
- Some users repeat the dose to ‘chase’ the high; others use heroin to dull the craving and feelings of restlessness, nausea and sleeplessness that follow.
- Some users experience intense feelings of confusion and paranoia.
- Because it is so addictive, most users have great difficulty controlling their habit.
Dangers and health risks
- Crack is very dangerous: the risks of smoking it are convulsions, lung damage and potentially fatal heart problems.
- Overdose can be fatal.
